The Publisher’s Association of South Africa (PASA) has announced, today, that the ownership of the South African Book Fair will be transferred to the South African Book Development Council (SABDC), which also manages Nation Book Week (NBW).

The SABDC has already established a Book Fair Steering Committee comprising a Council members representing key stakeholders – authors, editors, translators, publishers, printers, booksellers, librarians, paper manufacturers and Government representatives from the Departments of Arts and Culture, Basic Education and Trade and Industry. This committee will prepare and stage SABF2017.

The venue for SABF 2017 will be Johannesburg (venue details to be provided later). The SABDC will strategically position the SABF within National Book Week because it is already a very successful campaign on the South African calendar.

For 2017 NBW will run from 4-10 September. The SABF will therefore be staged from 8-10 September.

The last SABF was in 2015 at the Turbine Hall in Johannesburg.

We’ll keep you updated with more details as they become available.
