We have just learnt from Minister Nathi Mthethwa that our literary icon, our living great, mme Miriam Tlali is in hospital.

We recently featured, mme Tlali, who was born in 1933, in our #WomenWrite series celebrating Afrikan women writers in South Africa’s women’s month (August)

“I feared no political opponent at the time and was already being pursued by the boers. It was difficult for me to write because they could come at any time, and they would come in the night and search the house.” mme Tlali on her decision to write Amandla. It was published in 1980
